AVIAPOLIS X: SUSTAINABLE PAVILION IN A GLOBAL HUB

AVIAPOLIS X: SUSTAINABLE PAVILION IN A GLOBAL HUB

Aviapolis X is an event centre and showroom located in the heart of Aviapolis, the emerging business and entertainment hub of the city of Vantaa next to the buzzing Helsinki-Vantaa airport. The urban plan of the area aims at carbon neutrality, and the municipality reinforces innovative use cases of renewable energy. The pavilion acts as a venue for meetings, events, and culture alike. It is planned to serve the area for five to ten years, after which it will be moved to an alternative location.
The building is planned around the principles of circular economy and ecology. For its simple element structure of massive wood, the building can be disassembled and rebuilt. The burn-treated black box in the core of the building, contains all the supporting facilities and technical spaces. Multifuctional event space opens up to the surrounding cityscape inviting people to visit and participate to the changing events. The aluminium facade is an integrated artwork by the sculptor Villu Jaanisoon.

Office

Our work includes developing, studying and producing architectural projects that answer the client’s needs in a unique, cost-efficient, rational and aesthetically pleasing synthesis.

The design process consists of analysing the special features of each site and program. Our Architecture grows from hard work and a high level of commitment. We believe that the only way to build sustainable cities and buildings is to use real solid materials, solve all the functions in a flawless way and give every space and building its own unique appearance – a soul.
