In 2015-2016, an international architectural competition was organized by Sato to celebrate its 75th anniversary. The competition, named Sato Responsible Building For Future, aimed to develop innovative housing solutions and envision future living. Our proposal, MinMaxMix, won the competition.

The architectural design is inspired by the characteristic massiveness of brick construction. The buildings consist of solid, block-like structures with narrow spaces between them, serving as pathways, stairwells, and entrances to courtyard areas.

One major urban design feature of the competition proposal was separating the tower section from the eight-story section. This creates a green, courtyard-extended gateway space, which is part of the shared courtyard for the residents and serves as a main access route to the park. This solution allows the tower's facade to open to the west, providing better light to the apartments. The floor area of this intermediate space was utilized to increase the height of the seven-story and twelve-story buildings. Raising the seven-story section to eight stories maintains the idea of staggered street facades within the block. Elevating the tower to fourteen stories reinforces its role as a landmark, visible as far as from Lauttasaari at the end of Tallberg Park Road.

The project includes one Hitas building and two rental buildings owned by Sato. The apartment designs focus on functionality and adaptability for various life situations. The rental apartments are compact, but solutions, such as innovative built-in furniture and loft solutions, were developed during the competition phase to maximize flexibility in the limited living space.
