Knot is part of the Telakkaranta area development, which aims to revitalize a former industrial zone into a vibrant mixed-use waterfront area.
Telakkaranta is situated in a historic shipyard environment that has been evolving since the 1860s, predominantly characterized by red brick buildings. The architectural concept for the area focuses on creating a cohesive ensemble of buildings that harmonize with the historic shipyard surroundings.
The design follows the shape and roof forms outlined in the detail plan developed by the Danish firm Lundgaard & Tranberg Arkitekter A/S. Other decisions, such as red brick facades and integrated balconies, continue the architectural style of the Punavuori area.
The development includes four residential buildings with varying heights of 3 to12 floors and a three-story parking facility constructed beneath the blocks. The ground floors feature several commercial and restaurant spaces, opening towards the waterfront and surrounding streets, enhancing the vibrancy of the pedestrian and cycling-friendly waterfront area.
